M.D.

Dr. Dennis Cooper is an ophthalmologist with over 40 years of experience. He has joined Tozer Lee Eye Center after many years of solo practice in Scottsdale, AZ. 

Dr. Cooper grew up in St. Louis, MO and after his undergraduate studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, he returned home and received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Case Western Reserve University and Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was selected to be Chief Resident.

Prior to moving to Arizona, Dr. Cooper served as a decorated Major in the US Army Medical Corps. 

During his time practicing in Scottsdale, Dr. Cooper served as Chair of Surgery and Chief of Ophthalmology at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital (now known as Honor Health). During his time at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, he was honored as Teacher of the Year as well as with the Community Service Award/Humanitarian of the Year for his teaching and volunteer work. He was named a “Top Doctor” for multiple years by Phoenix Magazine.

In addition, Dr. Cooper has had three photographs of Arizona scenes published in Phoenix Magazine within a year. He learned to cook out of necessity and occasionally publishes cook books for the hospital staff and his friends.
