Dr. Christina Sorenson provides comprehensive optometric care with an emphasis on diagnosis, treatment and management of ocular disease. She also has an extensive background in contact lens fitting such as monovision, multifocal lenses, and scleral lenses.


Dr. Sorenson is from Wisconsin and first came to the Valley in 1983. She received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from The University of Missouri. Dr. Sorenson completed her post-doctoral residency in low vision rehabilitation and hospital-based optometry at the Kansas City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Sorenson has met, completed and maintained certification through the American Board Certification in Medical Optometry (ABCMO) since 2005.

Dr. Sorenson most recently provided care in a glaucoma and cataract specialty surgical practice for several years. Previously Dr. Sorenson served as the inaugural Dean of Clinical Education for the Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University and was on Faculty with Mayo Clinic Arizona Department of Ophthalmology for 15 years. Dr. Sorenson provided specialty contact lens care, treated ocular disease, rendered primary eye care and covered the clinical and hospital practice after hours.

In service to the profession of Optometry, she was appointed by the Governor of Arizona to the Arizona State Board of Optometry and served two terms including Vice President and President. Moreover, Dr. Sorenson has served as president of the National Board of Examiners of Optometry (NBEO) and as president of the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO) completing over 14 years of dedicated service to the profession of Optometry all while continuing her ongoing patient care. Proudly, she was named Arizona Optometrist of the Year by the Arizona Optometric Association. Dr. Sorenson continues to provide externship clinical education for optometry students and is an invited lecturer both locally and nationally.

In her spare time, she enjoys horses, hiking and kayaking. In addition, she is an author for Medscape and is currently working on a series of children’s novels.
